Effective: 12 July 2026

This document is a starting template drafted with Quebec's Law 25 and PIPEDA in mind. Please have it reviewed by a Quebec-licensed lawyer before you rely on it.

Designed Self ("we", "our") is a coaching practice based in the Province of Quebec, Canada. We take the privacy of the people who reach out to us seriously and comply with Quebec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Law 25) and the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

Person responsible for personal information

The person responsible for the protection of personal information is the founder of Designed Self. You can reach them at info@designedself.com.

What information we collect

  • Contact information you provide voluntarily (name, email, role, company, location, LinkedIn).
  • Application responses (what you're working on, desired outcome, etc.).
  • Session notes when we work together — kept privately and only shared back with you.
  • Basic technical information (IP address, browser, pages viewed) via privacy-respecting analytics if enabled.
  • Cookies as described in our Cookie Policy.

Why we collect it

We use your information to:

  • Review your application and respond to you.
  • Deliver coaching services you engage us for.
  • Send email replies related to our correspondence.
  • Understand how the site is used and improve it.
  • Comply with our legal obligations.

Consent and withdrawal

We only collect personal information with your consent. You may withdraw consent at any time by writing to us at the email above. Some information may need to be retained to fulfill legal obligations or a service you have already engaged.

Retention

We keep application data for as long as needed to respond and, if we work together, for the duration of our engagement plus a reasonable period afterwards for continuity and legal reasons. When retention is no longer justified, we destroy or anonymize the information.

Your rights

Under Quebec's Law 25 and PIPEDA, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Rectify inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Request that information be de-indexed or destroyed where applicable.
  • Request a portable copy of your information in a structured format.
  • Be informed of, and object to, automated decision-making (we do not currently make automated decisions).

To exercise a right, email us at info@designedself.com.

Third parties and cross-border transfers

We use a limited number of trusted service providers to host the site and store data (Lovable Cloud / Supabase infrastructure). Some data may be processed or stored outside Quebec, including in Canada, the United States, and the European Union. We take reasonable steps to ensure comparable protection wherever your data is processed.

Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information against loss, unauthorized access, or misuse. No system can guarantee absolute security; we commit to notifying affected individuals and the Commission d'accès à l'information (CAI) of any confidentiality incident that poses a serious risk of injury, as required by law.

Complaints

If you believe your rights have not been respected, contact us first. You may also file a complaint with the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec (cai.gouv.qc.ca) or, for matters covered by PIPEDA, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca).

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top will always reflect the most recent version. If changes are material, we will notify you by a reasonable means.
